I’ve always painted in acrylics but with my recent creative block I tried oils. While there are things I don’t like about them, there are many things I do like. So I ordered some additional colors. But, I think I shouldn’t just abandon my love for acrylics just yet. I will attach my first oil painting to this post below.
Some artist marry the two and maybe I will do that. It has helped me see a few different points of view also oils take a long time to dry…so you can really slow down your pace not that I had a fast pace with painting but seeing how they react I think I did. Or I would just use a hair dryer to speed things up even more. I’m excited to see what happens when I have a few more colors to choose from but that being said I do feel myself wanting to get back to painting.
“The world is your oyster…” that is the struggle for me right now. What to do…what to paint…I recently finished a painting of my daughters cat and now feel that I should paint “Frank”. He is shared by all of us in the house. So maybe he is the “house cat”, he maybe a possibility. Sometimes I have a thousand ideas and then other times just nothing. And right now is a nothing moment.
My first try at oil paints - I had a limited palette to choose from.
